CPSI National Intercounty Boccia League
February 18th, 2009. In: Boccia
Continuing on from the very successful Boccia league that has run for the last 2 Years, Cerebral Palsy Sport Ireland are about to Launch their 3rd National Inter-County Boccia League.
This year has seen a massive increase in team application, going from 8 in the last 2 years to 29 teams applying for a place this year.
This high increase is mainly due to the very strong working network that has being developed between CPSI and the SIDO’s in each of the local sport partnerships. As a result of such high team applications, the league will be broke down into provinces which will see the teams play off against each other in their pools to hopefully reach the finals.
Over the duration of the league, the teams will get an opportunity to develop their skills and techniques and newer players and teams will have the opportunity to play other new and experienced players.
The overall objective of the programme is too get teams from each of the centre’s to meet and compete with each other. This in turn, providing an opportunity for the SIDO’s and Enable Ireland teams to develop and create a strong Boccia Network within each county.
Cerebral Palsy Sport Ireland has of course a vested interest in the league as it allows CPSI to observe the level of play across the country. CPSI are always looking for new potential players that would and are able to compete at National and International level.
Unfortunately, there are no more places available to take part in the league this year, but if you are interested in developing a team or starting a Boccia club, CPSI are at hand to get you started.
