Following his dismissal from the Beijing Paralympic Games having been deemed not disabled enough to compete by the Cerebral Palsy International Sport & Recreation Association (CPISRA), Clare’s Derek Malone, was this weekreinstated by a review panel of CPISRA led by new Head of Classification, Ms. Carol Mushett-Johnson.

Ireland’s Paralympic Swimming Team continued their successful run today at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Iceland with 4 Irish competitors involved in today’s action.

The Irish Cerebral Palsy Football Team headed off this morning, the 20th October to compete in the 2009 World Football Championships in Holland.

Teenage swimmer from Dublin, Ellen Keane, finished with a well-earned fourth place in the 100m Breaststroke (S9 Class) this evening at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Iceland.

Ireland’s Darragh McDonald won a silver medal this evening at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Iceland in the 400m Freestyle event (Class S6).

The Irish Paralympic Swimming Team of 11 athletes and staff departed Dublin Airport this afternoon for the 2009 IPC European Swimming Championships to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland from 15th – 25th October, 2009.
