PCI, with the support of the Irish Sports Council, commenced the process of developing the team of team managers for the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team on Saturday last with the first day of the PCI Team Manager Leadership Development Programme. Day 1 of the 4-day course that will run throughout 2010 was held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown, Dublin, and was attended by 28 potential team managers.
The course is designed to train the team managers in all aspects of management of a team at the Paralympic Games and develop a team of team managers who will work in tandem with the PCI HQ team comprised of Chef de Mission Liam Harbison, Performance Director Nancy Chillingworth and a further addition to PCI yet to be announced.
Kick Ireland have been recruited by PCI to facilitate and lead the programme over the duration of the cycle to London 2012.
The programme is linked to the appointment process for the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team. Each sport has nominated 2-3 individuals to the Programme, following which the preferred candidate in each sport will be appointed the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team in December this year.
The remaining programme dates for 2010 are: June 26th, Oct 23rd & 24th.
