Strong Irish Team selected for IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand



Defending Champions Michael McKillop & Jason Smyth will lead the Irish team quest for success in New Zealand

The PCI is delighted to announce the team that will represent Ireland at the forthcoming IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, this coming January.  The team of 9 athletes and 7 support staff will be lead by Head of Paralympic Athletics, James Nolan, at this the final major IC athletics Championships prior to the London 2012 Paralympic games.

The team consists of a no. of experienced athletes, including defending World Champions, Michael McKillop (T37 800m) and Jason Smyth (T13 100m & 200m), along with Beijing finalists Garrett Culliton (F52 Discus), Orla Barry (F57 Discus) and Catherine Wayland (F51 Discus). Rosemary Tallon from Drogheda returns to Championship athletics follwoing her recent reclassification.  The team is completed with Major Championship debutants Ray O’Dwyer, Nadine Lattimore and Ailish Dunne.
