Irish Team now en route to New Zealand for Athletics World Championships

The Irish Team of 8 athletes and 7 support staff, led by James Nolan, are now en route to Christchurch New Zealand to compete at the IPC Athletics World Championships. A noisy bunch in an otherwise eerily quiet Terminal 2 of dublin Airport gathered for the long trek to New Zealand whcih will include stops in London and Singapore before arriving in Christshucrh on Saturday morning.

The team includes:
1) Defending T37 800m Champion Michael McKillop from Newtonabbey
2) European F57 Record holder Orla Barry form Ladysbridge seeking her first major Championship medal.
3) Clonasalee’s 4 time Paralympian Garrett Culliton in the F52 Discus.
4) Drogheda’s Athens Paralympian Rosemary Tallon in the F52 Discus
5) Catherine Wayland form New Ross trying to imporve onher superb 6th place at the Beijing 2008 Games in the F51 Discus
6) Ailish Dunne from Mountmellick in her first Major Championship in the F11 Shot
7) Nadine Lattimore from Clontarf also in her first Championship in the F11 Shot
8. W.I.T. student, Ray O’Dwyer from Hugginstown in his first Championships in the F34 Shot & Javelin.
