Football 7-a-side World Championship 2011 - The Netherlands

The World Championships are to be held in The Netherlands from June 17 till July 1, 2011.

The Draw for the  2011 CPISRA World Championships took place  in Holland last weekend and so far 15 countries have confirmed their intention to compete for the vital 8 places at the Paralyimpics in London 2012.

Ireland were drawn in Group D alongside Iran,  U.S.A,  and Japan.
Team Manager Paul Cassin said ” I am pretty happy with the draw,  we are second seeds to Iran in the Group and have not played against Iran for 3 years now.  We should beat the other two Countries thus qualify for the quarter finals and ensuring our position  at the Paralympics in London in 2012.”

World ranking: # 6

Ireland is one of the favorite teams to win the World Cup. The selection of manager Paul Cassin has in recent years grounded the CP football team.
That Ireland have shown great form of recently and this was seen at the recent  St. Patrick’s Cup held in Dublin, where they bet netherlands in the final.  The Irish team proved too strong for the Netherlands after extra time. Also at the European Championships in Glasgow last year the Irish team secured a fantastic third place finish.
The Irish have high hopes for the World Cup in the Netherlands. The country would like to qualify for the Paralympic Games next year in London. The other teams are warned of a strong Ireland.
