Ireland’s visually impaired sprinter Jason Smyth celebrated a double victory as he became not only the first Paralympian ever to compete at the European Athletics Championships but also qualified for the 100 metres semi-finals at the prestigious event which started in Barcelona today.

The IWA - Sport & CPSI joint National Athletics Championships will take place on Saturday the 3rd of July 2010 in Athlone IT, Athlone Co Westmeath.

The next National Athletic Training will take place on the 11th April 2010 in Irishtown Stadium.

Athletics Ireland today announced the composition of Irish Teams for the upcoming Spar European Cross Country Championships to take place at Santry Demesne, Dublin on December 13th.

Cerebral Palsy Sport Ireland will host its Annual National Athletics Championships on September the 12th in Morton Stadium Santry.

The competition is open to all Junior, Senior, Development, Competitive and High Performance Athlete

Following on from the great success of the day three NGB’s, IWA - Sport, CP Sports, Irish Blind Sports will jointly host an Athletics day on June 21st in Santry Stadium from 1030 to 4pm.

Dates of the next 7 Athletics Training Sessions have being confirmed and are taking place in the Irish town Stadium Dublin.

Coach Patrick McKillop received the top honour at the Sport Northern Ireland Coach of the Year awards. Patrick who is coach to the current world Paralympic 800m champion and the 1500m silver medallist Michael McKillop, was presented with the Performance Athlete Coach Award and named overall Coach of the Year at the gala ceremony at the University of Ulster recently

Irish Wheelchair Association Sports, Laois Sports Partnership and Offaly Sports Partnership have come together in an effort to develop athletics for people with physical disabilities. We hope to provide an opportunuty for all individuals to sample the different events that are out there and get them interest in taking part in athletics.
