The Netherlands claimed the first ever football seven-a-side BT Paralympic World Cup crown after a late strike from Jeffrey Bruinier (pictured) saw the Dutch snatch a dramatic 3-2 win over the plucky Irish in the final of the tournament here today.

Ireland’s Cerebral Palsy Football Team today took a giant step towards qualification for the final of the Paralympic World Cup with a classy 5:2 victory over the USA.

The Irish CP Football Team got their Paralympic World Cup campaign off to a solid start in Manchester today. The match against the Netherlands was a thriller from start to finish.

Ireland will be represented at the 6th BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester this May by Double Paralympic Champion, Jason Smyth, and the Irish Cerebral Palsy Football Team.

The Irish cerebral palsy team were victorious in Arnhem with a 2-1 win over Holland to secure 5th place in the 12 team World Championships.

The Irish Cerebral Palsy Football Team headed off this morning, the 20th October to compete in the 2009 World Football Championships in Holland.

The junior Soccer Team travelled up with the “B” squad to play a friendly match in Belfast against Northern Ireland on the 14th of June. The junior side is made up players 14year and under, and is a new addition to the football set up.

We left the Clarion Hotel on Friday the 5th June at 4.30am to catch
our flight at 6am, I was a little concerned about the early departure
as we had to play Spain at 5pm that same evening.
